Bentley has just unveiled its facelifted Flying Spur, advertising it as the fourth generation. The production will take place in Crewe, UK as usual.

Like the Continental GT before it, the sedan ended up with an Ultra Performance Hybrid drivetrain comprising a 4.0-liter turbo V8 and a single electric motor built into an eight-speed DCT. Their combined output reaches an all-time high 782 PS (771 hp / 575 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque.

Equipped like this, Bentley’s latest-and-greatest reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds. A 25.9-kWh battery pack on board gives it up to 76 km (47 miles) of electric range while capping the speed at 140 km/h (87 mph). With the tank filled to the max, you can cover 829 km (515 miles) before a top-up becomes necessary.

The battery pack can be charged up from external sources and – interestingly enough – from the main engine, too. In this case, the engine will keep driving the wheels as usual while redirecting a part of its spare power to the generator.

The chassis supports rear-wheel steering and torque vectoring, and comes with dual shocks in the suspension that drivers can configure however they want.

In terms of appearance, the Flying Spur retains its signature split headlights, but runs on new 22-inch wheels and benefits from a revised body kit, Bentley says.

The main novelty inside comes in the form of ultra-comfortable Welness seats equipped with automatic heating and ventilation functions. The dashboard graphics have been improved, and customers can choose from three available audio system options ranging from 1,650W to 2,200W total. The minimal setup has 10 speakers and the premium one has 19.

Last but not least, the new Flying Spur enjoys access to a wider assortment of connected services, including support for third-party app downloads. Bentley says it will be adding new features on a regular basis. One of the more interesting novelties scheduled for future addition is a driving assist system that uses the available traffic light data to predict “green waves” and minimize the time spent at red lights.
