VW facelifts the Taos for North America
The 2025 Volkswagen Taos enjoys improvements in both design and powertrain departments.
The front end looks new thanks to slimmed-down headlights with updated LED patterns, but the fenders and the hood stay the same. A massive air intake in the bumper replaces the upper grille entirely for a much sportier and more aggressive look.
Looking from the side, you can tell the facelift version by its new alloy wheels available in sizes from 17 to 19 inches. There are three new paint options – vivid green, blue and grey. A light bar at the rear end connects the taillights, but the rest seems unchanged.
A revised digital dash and a new HVAC console freshen things up on the inside. The new infotainment screen is larger and stands separately from the dash. A plethora of ADAS is included in the base trim.
The Taos for the United States only has one engine option – 1.5 TSI – but it ramps up output from 160 to 176 American hp (178 PS; 131 kW). DSG is no longer offered, meaning that all cars ship with a full-fledged eight-speed automatic transmission regardless of the drive configuration.
