Skoda has unveiled the modernized Octavia lineup, so let’s have a look.

On the exterior side of things, the car sports redesigned bumpers making it 9 mm (0.2”) longer, a new radiator grille, and revised lighting all around. Skoda claims that the optional next-gen Matrix LEDs illuminate the road better than ever while avoiding blinding other drivers. The taillights gain two new light signatures.

For the wheels, customers can choose from a variety of options sized 16–19 inches large. Only the base trim gets steelies, while all other trims benefit from light alloy rims. The availability of finishes is limited on a per-trim basis.

There are four trim levels to choose from. Each comes with one or more available interior designs – there are nine in total. Depending on your chosen trim, you can decide between natural fabric upholstery, reprocessed synthetic fiber, and multiple kinds of leather.

The engine lineup says goodbye to the 1.0-liter three-pot and two iV-series plug-in hybrids. The Skoda Octavia RS no longer has a diesel AWD version, either – only a 2.0-liter petrol turbo variant, which has been boosted to 265 PS (261 hp / 195 kW). The torque stays at 370 Nm (273 lb-ft).

The non-RS lineup now begins with two 1.5-liter petrol four-cylinder options – 115 PS (113 hp / 86 kW) and 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW). Both come with a six-speed manual transmission as standard, but if you opt for a mild-hybrid version of either engine you get a seven-speed DCT instead.

Next year, Skoda plans to expand the new Octavia lineup with a 2.0L version rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW). The Octavia 2.0L is the only one announced so far to have all-wheel-drive included in its standard feature list. The old 2.0-liter diesels rated at 115 and 150 PS will continue to be available with their usual transmissions.
