Yamaha to design e-motors for Caterham Project V
04-10-2024 11:30
The all-electric Caterham Project V that debuted as a concept last year is inching closer to production.
The once-British marque has just announced teaming up with Yamaha in Japan to procure the electric motors and other powertrain internals for its first-ever fully electric sports car. Another Japanese company, Tokyo R&D, agreed to help with calibrating and fine-tuning the car.
The news is hardly surprising if you consider that Japan-based VT-Holding acquired all rights to the Caterham brand three years ago. The company has already begun constructing the first test vehicle, but doesn’t expect to get it on the public roads until mid-2025.
