Irmscher works its tuning magic on the Fiat 500e
German tuning shop Irmscher usually only handles Opel cars, but a shrinking market must have convinced it that expanding its business was the right idea. Hence its latest work, a souped-up Fiat 500e.
Buyers who opt for the top trim level get 17-inch wheels straight from the factory, but Irmscher offers an alternative. It is a set of 27-inch, ten-spoke alloys with the spokes shaped like turbine blades for aerodynamic purposes. Lowering the suspension is recommended for maximum style points, and the tuner also offers a pack of sporty red decals.
The second and final set of mods concerns the interior. Here, the customizer proposes re-trimming the seats, door cards, steering wheel and ceiling with natural leather. You can choose between Wine Red and Amaretto Brown for the color. Together with diamond stitching, the trim comes precariously close to what you would find in a Maserati sports car – but then again, the luxury isn’t nearly as pronounced.
Things stay stock under the hood. In its most powerful version, the electric Fiat 500 (see video) drives the wheels with 118 PS (116 hp / 87 kW). It enables it to sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in nine seconds and hit the limiter at 150 km/h (93 mph). A full battery translates into around 320 km (200 miles) of mixed-cycle range.
